Mentorship Program

Mentorship Program

As many of you know, IBDpros emphasizes connecting people across businesses, industries, the city, and the world. On a more intimate scale, we believe strongly in fostering mentoring relationships to help further our members’ growth and strengthen their businesses.

We’re excited to announce that we are relaunching another successful Mentorship program for 2023.

Note, we are limiting the program to members only.

VISION, MISSION, & PURPOSE STATEMENT

VISION – Where do we want to go?
BD Pros Mentorship Program positively impacts our members’ professional development to support their personal and professional growth.

MISSION – How will we get there?
BD Pros Mentors will meet Mentees once per month over the next 6 months with regular check-ins from Program Leadership. Ideally, you would keep the time limit to 1 hour per meeting, but we recognize some topics may require more generous time commitments.

PURPOSE – Why do we do what we do?
BD Pros recognizes that like-minded people benefit from each other’s experiences. This is a fantastic way to build a relationship with another person in Business Development, continue to grow your sphere of influence, and learn or transfer lessons to one another.

MENTOR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

A mentor would be a senior-level professional who can offer their expertise and guidance to another professional through advice, skills, development, and networking.

  • Share experiences and expertise as appropriate
  • Introduce Mentee to rest of BD Pros (if applicable)
  • Provide support, guidance, and feedback confidentially
  • Share knowledge about developing a career path
  • Help to define expectations/outcomes
  • Assist in developing goals and an action plan
  • Suggest ways to respond to difficult situations
  • Help mentee develop contacts and identify resources

MENTEE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

A Mentee is someone looking to advance in their career through regular mentorship, learning and practicing new skills/advice gained from their Mentor.

  • Own the mentoring relationship
  • Manage meeting schedule with Mentor
  • Determine objectives: skills, knowledge, and/or goals that you want to achieve and communicate them to your mentor
  • Bring up new topics that are important to you at any point and give feedback to your mentor
  • Develop goals and action plan with Mentor
  • Maintain confidentiality in interactions

PROGRAM GUIDELINES & EXPECTATIONS

  • The formal program will last 6 months
  • Both Mentors and Mentees sign up
  • Two (.5) hour meetings per month – or one hour meeting/per month recommended
  • Each group identifies 3 goals
  • Each group has a 30-day check-in to ensure a good fit
  • Mentee creates an agenda before each meeting
  • All conversations are 100% confidential and respectful
  • Each group should look to identify best practices that can be shared with the rest of the group
  • Each member will complete a survey after the 6 months is complete

Mentor/Mentee Sign-up form

To indicate your interest in participating, please sign-up and complete the registration form no later than February 17th, 2023. This form will help us match you with a mentor/mentee based on their professional interests, developmental goals, and personal attributes.

We have open registration on our website for Mentors and Mentees for our 2023 program. Please login and then sign up here. If you’re not a member yet, you can also find membership registration on our website.

You will be notified whether you have been matched with a mentee or not. It is our sincere hope that any mentee who would like to participate in the mentorship program may do so, and that is only possible with your participation.

We will hold a kickoff event on February 22nd, 2023 for all mentors and mentees prior to your first one-on-one meeting.
