Danette Gebremedhin

  1. Welcome Danette, please tell us about yourself.

“Hi! I’m Danette Gebremedhin, and I’m passionate about connecting people, ideas, and opportunities through creative and strategic business development. With a background in project management and international collaboration, I enjoy working in environments where innovation and cultural exchange drive success.”

2. Where do you work, and what is your role? When and how did you get started there?

“I work in Business Development for Holland Bikes, a Dutch-founded company that started in France and expanded to the U.S. last year. I joined the team in November 2024, shortly after moving from Germany to New York, where I previously worked in project management. I was drawn to Holland Bikes because of its international team, entrepreneurial culture, and the opportunity to help grow a global brand that values connection and diversity. Being multilingual and part of a dynamic, globally minded group makes my work especially rewarding.”

3. What are some factors that contribute to your success?

“Adaptability, communication, and cultural awareness have been key to my success. Having worked across different countries, I’ve learned the importance of listening carefully, understanding diverse perspectives, and approaching challenges with creativity and empathy. I also believe that consistency and authenticity are essential for building strong business relationships.”

4. What advice would you give to those starting their careers in Business Development?

Be curious, patient, and proactive. Business development is about learning from every interaction and understanding how to create value for others. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or take initiative. Building trust and maintaining authenticity will help you stand out and build long-term partnerships.”

5. Please share the range and type of projects you’re involved in.

“At Holland Bikes, I focus on a variety of business development initiatives including strategic partnerships, client relationship management, and corporate collaborations. I work closely with partners in hospitality, tourism, and community organizations to develop meaningful connections and long-term growth opportunities. Each project allows me to combine strategic thinking with relationship building, which is what I enjoy most about my work.”
